Bitmain, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin (BTC) mining producers, allegedly stopped funding some of the main developers protecting Bitcoin-related software.
Jonas Schnelli, one of the key contributors to Bitcoin Core, claimed that Bitmain stopped support after funding its own work for more than three years.
In his post dated December 1, Schnelli announced on GitHub that he lost his sponsor under the alias “promag” with another Bitcoin Core developer Joao Barbosa.
The developer said, “Thank you to Bitmain for all their help (despite our agreement),” and asked the crypto community to contribute to the Bitcoin Core work.
Bitcoin Core is a huge open source project that protects Bitcoin’s client software. The project describes itself as a direct continuation of the original Bitcoin client software published by Satoshi Nakamoto.
